Meniscal tears are included among one of the most common knee related injuries. Although athletes are considered to be at high risk for meniscal tears but it can happen to anyone at any age. The meniscus is a rubbery, C-shaped disc that cushions your knee. The tear in the meniscus disrupts the steady balancing of your weight across the knee. Sudden twists and turns with the foot planted while knee is bent and heavy weight lifting are some of the known causes associated with this injury. Other factors include weak cartilage, aged and worn tissue also contributes to meniscal tears.
