Bicep Tear

Bicep Tear

Usually reported as a "pop" in the area of the elbow, a bicep tear or stretching of muscles are relatively common among athletes. Sports that involve throwing, contact and weight lifting place these athletes in the high risk area for getting this injury. Bicep tearing or rupture usually occurs when a muscle is overloaded beyond its capability of taking stress. Not properly warming up before exercise may sometimes strain the bicep while applying extreme force to muscle can cause rupture of the muscle. Symptoms may include sharp pain, cramping, bruising, tenderness, and weakness, difficulty turning and bulging of the bicep muscles. Depending on the grade of the injury, treatment for bicep tear may require surgical intervention.
